Again this year, the American Legion Post #146 of Menominee, MI is partnering with Wreaths Across America with a mission to REMEMBER the fallen, HONOR those who serve and TEACH our children the value of freedom.

Family members, friends and volunteers will help adorn the gravesites at the Riverside Cemetery Soldiers Lot in Menominee and at other veterans’ graves nationwide in a stirring tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those who have guarded and preserved our nation’s freedom throughout history.

Mayor Stegeman has proclaimed December 3, 2016 as “Wreaths Across America Day” in the City of Menominee and invites and encourages citizens to participate in the wreath laying at Riverside Cemetery which will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Recycling Center Hours

The City of Menominee announces that there is a change in the hours of operation of the City Recycling Center located next to City Hall behind the Recreation Department at 2515 10th Street. The City has modified the hours of operation in order to provide a more consistent level of staffing. The new hours effective immediately are as follows:

Monday 8 am to Noon
Tuesday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Wednesday 9 am to 5pm
Thursday 10 am to 2pm
Friday 10 am to 2pm
Saturday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Sunday Closed

CITY RESIDENTS are reminded that recycling items may be dropped off ONLY when the Recycling Center is open. Further, this location is for recycled materials only. Normal weekly trash collection remains unaffected and the separate collection of all furniture and bulk items is still being performed by Waste Management on a monthly basis.

The yard waste disposal site is also open for the season daily from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. and is located behind City Hall with driveway access from 23rd Avenue. This area is for city residents only and is for disposal of brush, leaves and garden debris only, no other solid waste is allowed at this location.

Additionally, the City is now in the process of regular leaf collection that continues through the fall until the roads are covered with snow.

Whether you are a resident, potential resident, or a visitor, we have many areas of interest to explore. Menominee is fortunate to be bordered by waterfront, located between the bay of Green Bay and the Menominee River. We have an expansive park system throughout the city, including a full-service campground adjacent to the Menominee River, a first-rate marina, and a charming historic district.
